About

Melissa Jayne (she/her) is a writer/illustrator and a graduate of Bath Spa University with a degree in Creative Writing and Film Studies. Jayne focuses on writing diverse, queer stories that engage with issues of gender, race, sexuality, and disability.

Her webcomic Summer of Seoul is a lesbian K-pop romcom about two queer girls determined to make their relationship work when faced with extraordinary circumstances. SoS deals with topics such as closeted relationships, the cruelty of media industries, and queer found family.

She has been featured in the Beloved zine of Butch/Femme art and writing, awarded runner-up in the Prose Purple Transgender Writing Competition, and is a regular on the second season of the podcast Determination, Deliberation, and Dragons.

Experience

I have experience writing to a deadline while studying Creative Writing at Bath Spa University. This course also encouraged me to write a wide range of genres and forms (including poetry, science-fiction, and even picture books)!
